Education

1. Restoring Hope for Wayanad’s Displaced Schoolchildren

Following the devastating landslides in Wayanad that destroyed Vellarmala Government Vocational Higher Secondary School and Government LP School, Mundakkai, students and their families were relocated to areas far from the Government High School, Meppadi, where they had been temporarily accommodated. Recognizing the challenges these children faced in traveling long distances to attend school, the sub-collector approached Manipal Foundation with a heartfelt request to fund two school buses to ease their burden.

Manipal Foundation funded two school buses and handed them to the schools in a small event which was graced by the CEO of Manipal Foundation, few dignitaries including the District Collector, the Sub-Collector, the Headmasters, a few teachers and students. This has ensured continuation of education for these children.

2. Building Future Entrepreneurs: Program for Grade 6 and 7 Students in Government Schools

Children from underprivileged backgrounds often lean towards small-scale professions due to limited opportunities. However, when introduced to “Entrepreneurship” through engaging, gamified methods that incorporate design thinking and future technologies, they develop the skills and mindset needed to walk this path with confidence, making their transition into entrepreneurship smooth.

The Entrepreneurship program designed by ENpower, fosters an entrepreneurial mindset in students aged 8-18. The SaAkaara Market Day program, a 24-hour course for underserved Bangalore schools, empowers students to turn ideas into real products. Guided by “Thinking Coaches,” students develop problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills. SaAkaara Market Day gives young innovators a launchpad to bring their concepts to life, building confidence and inspiring them to become future changemakers.

3. Investing in Education with Mid-Day Meal Support:

In Mayurbhanj, Odisha, a remote tribal region, there has been a lack of educational facilities for vulnerable and marginalized groups, including destitute children, orphans, and those from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and minority communities. This limited their opportunities for formal learning and growth.

To address this need, the SLS Memorial Residential School was established, offering a beacon of hope and opportunity for children in this area. This school provides not only a formal education but also instils the discipline needed to help these young individuals integrate successfully into society. Manipal Foundation partnered with SLS Trust to fund nutritious mid-day meals for 128 students along with 18 teaching and non-teaching staff at the school.

Healthcare

1.Healing Young Hearts: Cancer Care and BMT Support for Children in Need

This year, through the generosity and vision of our supporters, Manipal Foundation has been able to facilitate meaningful CSR funding to offer life-saving Bone Marrow Transplants for children from underprivileged backgrounds at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal. These children are suffering from various diseases like Thalassemia, Aplastic Anaemia, Refractory Acute Myeloid Leukemia etc. Each of these 25 children now has a new chance at life—a chance to overcome illness, return to school, and dream again.

Battling cancer is unimaginably hard, and for families from low-income backgrounds, the financial burden of chemotherapy can be overwhelming. Manipal Foundation, understanding this struggle, has worked tirelessly to raise funds so that no child is denied the treatment they need. The compassionate doctors at Kasturba Hospital go beyond their call of duty, waiving all service charges for these young patients, while bed, nutrition, and accommodations are fully provided. Even the cost of essential medicines is eased, with appropriate discount to make treatment more accessible.

By contributing to these causes, our donors have not just supported medical treatment; but have given these children the hope of a future—one where they can run, play, and laugh again, unburdened by illness.

2. A Heartfelt Mission: Supporting Vulnerable Lives Across India

Since April 2024, Manipal Foundation has brought hope and healing to 563 lives—children, women, and family breadwinners—across Manipal Hospitals in India. These individuals, from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, face tremendous challenges in affording critical medical care. Through this support, their burdens were lightened, allowing them to focus on recovery without the weight of hospital and treatment expenses.
